Terms of Service
Effective October 15, 2026
These terms govern your use of the hosted OpenReview service at openreview.tech (the "Service"). The Service is operated by Michael Belenkiy ("we", "us"). By signing in or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you can accept these terms for it, and "you" includes that organization.
OpenReview is also open-source software released under the MIT License. These terms cover only the hosted Service; the MIT License governs your use of the source code, including running it yourself.
1. The Service
OpenReview reviews pull requests with AI. It indexes the repositories you connect, posts review summaries and comments, answers questions about your code, and offers related features described in our documentation. We may add, change or remove features over time. If we remove a significant paid feature, we will tell you in advance.
2. Accounts and workspaces
- Your account: you must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live. Give accurate information and keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Workspaces: workspace owners and admins control who can join a workspace, what roles they have, and which repositories and integrations are connected.
- Repositories: connect only repositories and services you are authorized to share with the Service.
3. Your content
You keep all rights to your code, pull requests, comments and other content you or your code host send to the Service ("Your Content"). You give us permission to access, copy, store, process, transmit and display Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you. This includes sending it to the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy. We do not use Your Content to train AI models.
4. AI output
Reviews, findings, suggested fixes and answers are generated by AI. They can be wrong, incomplete or insecure. You are responsible for checking them before you rely on them or merge code. The Service supports human code review and security testing; it does not replace them. As between you and us, you own the output the Service generates for you.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything illegal, or to violate anyone's rights;
- access repositories, workspaces or data you are not authorized to access;
- try to break, probe or get around the Service's security, rate limits, plan limits or billing;
- overload or disrupt the Service, or use automated means to send unreasonable volumes of requests;
- send malware or content designed to manipulate the Service into harming others;
- share accounts in order to avoid paying for seats.
6. Plans, billing and the free trial
- Free trial: each workspace gets a 14-day free trial that starts at its first review, with a monthly review limit shown in the product. If you subscribe during the trial, the first charge happens when the trial ends.
- Starter plan: billed monthly per seat. Owners, admins and members are seats; viewers are free. Reviews are unlimited, subject to a fair-use limit shown in the product (currently 500 reviews per seat each month). If a workspace reaches the limit, reviews pause until the next month.
- Seat changes: when members join, leave or change roles, the seat count updates automatically and Stripe applies prorated charges or credits.
- Renewal and cancellation: subscriptions renew automatically each month until canceled. You can cancel at any time in Settings → Billing → Manage billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not refund partial periods, except where the law requires it.
- Payment problems: if a payment fails, reviews continue for 7 days. After that they pause until the invoice is paid.
- Price changes: we will give at least 30 days' notice before a price change applies to you.
- Taxes: prices do not include taxes, which may be added where required.
Payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe's terms.
7. Third-party services
The Service works with services you choose to connect, such as GitHub, Linear, Jira, Confluence, Notion, Slack and Stripe. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for them.
8. Feedback
If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account or workspace. We may suspend or end your access in any of these cases:
- you materially break these terms;
- you don't pay;
- your use creates a security or legal risk for us or others.
Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. After termination we delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections 3, 4 and 8 through 15 continue to apply after termination.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will find every problem in your code.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill;
- our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or US $100.
12. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against claims by third parties that arise from Your Content, or from your use of the Service in breach of these terms or the law.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will also tell signed-in users by email or in the product at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it.
15. General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Severability: if a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver: not enforcing a provision does not waive it.
- Assignment: you may not transfer these terms without our consent. We may transfer them to a successor operator of the Service.
- Events beyond our control: neither party is responsible for delays caused by events it cannot reasonably control.
