Referral program
On the hosted service, anyone signed in can refer others and earn a share of what their workspaces pay. Find your link under Personal Settings → Referrals. The program runs only where the operator turned it on, so self-hosted installs don't have it.
- Your link: share
/r/<your code>, or give someone the 8-character code. A new account created through the link is credited to you, and so is the first workspace it creates. Accounts that already exist can't be referred by link, but a workspace owner or admin can add your code under Organization Settings → Billing & Usage in the workspace's first 30 days, before it subscribes. - What they see: the link page shows your GitHub username, if you have one. You see their GitHub username (or "Email sign-up"), when they sign up, when their workspace subscribes, and what you earn from each of its payments, including any share taken back after a refund or dispute. Neither of you sees anything else about the other's workspaces.
- Their discount: when one is available, a referred workspace gets the discount shown on the link page (for example 20% off its first 3 paid months), applied at Checkout.
- What you earn: 20% of what the referred workspace pays, excluding tax, for 12 months from its first payment. You get one email when it first pays, if you have a verified email.
- 30-day hold: each commission is on hold for 30 days after the payment, then counts toward your available balance.
- Refunds and disputes: a refund, or a dispute that is open or lost, takes back the matching share of that payment's commission. A dispute decided in OpenReview's favor gives it back. If this happens after you redeemed the money, your balance goes negative and your next commissions pay it back first.
- Workspace credit: once you have at least $10 available, apply $10 or more of it (up to your available balance) to the bill of a workspace you own or administer that has subscribed or added a payment method. Stripe takes the credit off that workspace's next invoices, and it shows as Referral credit under Organization Settings → Billing & Usage. Credit is in US dollars, so the workspace must be billed in USD. A credit that Stripe rejects returns to your balance.
- Cash out: where the operator offers it, you can also cash out to a US bank account through Stripe. Under Cash out with Stripe, set up payouts: Stripe asks for your identity, tax and bank details, OpenReview sends Stripe your verified email address and your OpenReview user ID to start the account, and keeps only your Stripe account ID and its status. Once Stripe can pay you, cash out $50 or more (up to your available balance); Stripe sends it to your bank on your Stripe payout schedule, and Open Stripe dashboard shows your payouts and tax forms. OpenReview reviews a cash-out before sending it when it brings your cash-outs over $500 in 30 days. Setting up payouts, cashing out and opening the dashboard need a sign-in from the last 15 minutes, so you may be asked to sign in again. A cash-out that Stripe rejects returns to your balance.
- Not allowed: referring yourself, or a workspace you are or were a member of. Such referrals are voided, along with their commissions still on hold. Abuse can void a referral at any time.
The full rules are in the referral program section of the Terms of Service.
